If you're not reading the Razor, you're uninformed. If you are reading the Razor, you're misinformed.

I started this blog for two reasons:

1. To document my various travels.
2. To give me a place to ridicule my friends, family, and politicians in an environment where they can't defend themselves.

Since I returned from Malaysia in April, I haven't been on any significant trips. As a result, I've had to focus more on ridicule...

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Why did you name you blog "Adam's Razor"?

A: It was the first thing that popped in my head.  It is a bastardized version of Occam's Razor.  Not to bore you to much, but Occam's Razor states that given multiple possible answers, the simplest explanation is usually the correct one.  To restate it slightly differently, "The simplest explanation is the truth".  Adam's Razor states, "The funniest version of reality is the truth".  This allows me to twist the real truth (slightly) to point out a more hilarious version of reality.  And yes, I realize that the fact that this was the first thing that popped in my head is disturbing.

Q:  What does impromptus cogitatum (the URL for my blog is www.impromptus-cogitatum.blogspot.com) mean?

A:  I'm not 100% sure because I don't speak Latin.  I want it to mean something like, "Well thought-out things off the top of my head".  Sort of an oxymoron...  It is also intended as a tribute to my favorite columnist, Jay Nordlinger, who writes a column entitled Impromptus over at the National Review online.  Here is his archive.   Incidentally, the pronunciation for "impromptus" is something like Im-prompt-toos.  For years I thought the last syllable rhymed with "bus" as in Im-prompt-us.  It's simply the plural of impromptu...

Q:  What does "&c." mean, and Why do you use it?

A:  "&c." is an archaic abbreviation for "et cetera".  It can be used to end lists just like "etc."... I use it to be difficult.

Q:  Do you really sell Razor Merchandise on your blog?

A:  It depends on your definition of the word "sell".  It is definitely "for sale", but as yet, no one has placed an order.  However, I'm expecting big things this holiday season.

Q:  Are you ever going to marry Christena?

A:  See "Friends of the Razor" tab.

Finally, a couple housekeeping items:

I use the terms "slicers" and "shavers" to refer to readers/fans of the razor.

From time to time I steal material from other websites, blogs, &c. without properly citing it.  Sue me.  (Please don't.  If you notice something I copied from you, let me know and I will remove it, cite you, or whatever.  In the meantime, I want my readers to think I come up with all this crap by myself...)
